DNAP PAC REPORT PUBLISHED.

The Planning Appeals Commission (PAC) have now published their report detailing objections on the Northern Area Plan 2016 (NAP).  The Department will now consider this Report before adopting the new Northern Area Plan 2016.  It is likely that most if not all of the PAC recommendations will be endorsed by the Department.

MKA Planning have been successful on behalf of Clients in getting the PAC to recommend: –

1. That 3.4ha of land at Coleraine Road, east of Housing Zoning PTH27 should be zoned for social housing and included within the Settlement Development Limits for Portstewart. There should be a key site requirement stating that it is for social housing purposes only.

2. Policy HOU3 Apartment Development in settlements with pressure for second homes is recommended to be deleted as the PAC does not support the use of this policy in the Plan. The PAC considers that designations relating to this Policy in all the coastal settlements should also be deleted.

3. That the area to the north west of Housing Zoning GLHO4 to be included within the settlement development limits of Greysteel to meet the need for 14 social housing units. There should be a key site requirement stating that it is for social housing purposes only.

4. That a parcel of land located directly to the rear of No.’s 29 – 31 Dun-a-mallght Road  in Ballycastle should be included within the Settlement Development Limit (SDL) for Ballycastle. The PAC agreed it would make a logical edge and rounding off to the SDL at this location and would not present any problem to the overall plan objectives.

5. That ‘The Loughan’, a small settlement which lies less than 2 km south east of Coleraine along the eastern bank of the River Bann is designated up to Hamlet Status in the Settlement Hierarchy of the Plan and the settlement defined as per the map submitted by MKA Planning Ltd.

6. That a parcel of land located at Broad Road, Limavady is included within the proposed settlement development limits of Limavady.
