MKA Planning has led objections to the recent proposal for a Tesco foodstore at Leyland Road in Ballycastle.
This ‘out-of-centre’ foodstore is likely to adversely impact on the vitality and viability of Ballycastle town centre and undermine its convenience shopping function.
MKA Planning have on behalf of a local Client already obtained full planning permission for a town centre foodstore and objected to this proposal on his behalf as it would adversely impact on the vitality and viability of the town centre.
The informal appeal saw the collapse of the Department’s quantitative case against the proposal. However, the existence of an approved food store within the town centre which has full planning permission and is both suitable and available, is a significant major planning consideration for the Planning Appeals Commission (PAC) to consider.
