Anaerobic digester approved.

MKA Planning has obtained planning permission for an anaerobic digester, a combined heat and power plant and construction of silage pits at lands at Donnybrewer Road, Campsie.

Anaerobic digestion is an emerging source of renewable energy in Northern Ireland which involves the use of animal manure, slurries and farm grown feedstock as a source of renewable energy.

This application was the subject of concerted objection from local residents concerned about potential traffic, safety and amenity impacts. However, MKA were able to resolve all planning and environmental concerns with the Planning Service and planning permission was granted in November 2012.
